More than 450 PV plants completed in Switzerland – Market entry Portugal
Overall, the Engynious Group closed the year 2021 with positive results. In Germany and Switzerland, energy yields remained below expectations due to poor weather in Central Europe, with fewer hours of sunshine than forecast. On the other hand, our international subsidiaries achieved positive developments. The cumulative installed base of Engynious Group grew to almost 10 MWp in 2021.
In Switzerland, the Joint Venture with Younergy Solar SA for the operation of photovoltaic plants continued to grow steadily. As of the end of December, 54 further PV plants were completed and commissioned in 2021 (SFH 51 plants with 461 kWp, Solar Communities 3 sites with 118 kWp). The joint portfolio for distributed energy generation, most of which is pre-financed by Engynious, has thus reached a size of 453 plants with a total of 3.2 MWp. A new attractive product was also launched in the Swiss market: a consumption PPA labelled "Solar Nation" based on the sale of solar electricity consumed to end users was well received by initial customers in the Residential and Commercial segments. This new offering supported a further increase in the average system size.
In addition, the Joint Venture with Younergy Solar SA successfully in entered the Portuguese market in 2021. Engynious provided the complete start-up financing for this new market. Several PV systems on sites such as supermarkets and carports with charging stations will be completed in H1 2022.
The market entry into New Zealand was launched successfully. As of December 2021, PV systems with combined 35 kWp on two schools in the Whanganui district on the North Island have been completed. Engynious New Zealand also became the Agent for the market leading German Solarwatt modules and has secured exclusive distribution rights for New Zealand. In this context, several containers of Solarwatt modules have been delivered to the Housing and Urban Development Department Kāinga Ora for local renewable energy generation on a new sustainable public housing project.
